Written talk – one

Posted by ashthor on December 6, 2006

Ever wondering – where the words come from? In my universe –

I know it is not as big it could be, or is that a modest phrase. Anyway, I surround myself with words

Normal words most of the time, taking to family, friends, talking at work, in town and other places.

Then there is the world of the written matter, on paper and internet and here it comes, the strange words do pop up.

Ashi; what and where do that come from?

Well in the beginning I found it connected to a rabbi who among others collected the Talmud – later it was Ira Levin’s book “This perfect day. Now I use the Japanese word for leg, which sounds like it. However, I use other words like ashcom, astrum, somnio, ash, ashtork and I especially like words like ashthor, somnio and nostromo.

Explanation
it is Latin words more or less, astrum = star, somnio = I’m dreaming, not ashcom; it is a contraction of ashi and communication from a time of wild speculation of future possibilities (talking back there about universe).

Ashthor is to a contraction of Ashi and Thor (Thor is, if you do not know, the Nordic warrior god of the Vikings). I know you probably are wondering what words make ashtork? Ok, Ashi again and Torkild (my father’s name; which means Thor’s Ketil; and ketil is and old word for helmet).

Ash or Ashe is a nickname for a character from Andre Norton’s books of time traders. More science fiction inspiration Nostromo – no bell ringing?

The catch is science fiction and I’m a great fan with movies on the subject. Okay think about “Alien and the starfreighter – exactly “The USCSS Nostromo. The latest weblog, which is a supply blog for Brande Lokal Net is called Arawak, quit another lane to walk isn’t? Arawak I picked up many years ago, it originated from middle America and the native Indians language, it translated something like “beginning of something.

Those words give me a universe and modestly a rather big one. Moreover, out there on the internet we all surround us with a more or less realistic universe – and how we thrive by it.

More people these days are given away there inner thoughts or inner universe for all to see and feel – real or not – does it matter? Well it matters to me anyway – egocentric?
Maybe – I think most people actually write for themselves and not for any audience especially.

In Arawak
one might escape Nostromo
but in the end
sero sed serio
one never escape destiny.

I bagge a look at your forewin, or superlative place. What’s with all the trade marks signs? They got in the way of my understanding. I have fadged or succeeded in my efforts to obscure this post with my interest in obscure words, I have found they interfere with communication if overused. To dit is to stop, congee, goodbye.
